How to Reduplicate Verbs in Chinese

In Chinese, we can use reduplicated verbs to express something happen "briefly" or "a little bit." 

Sub + Verb Verb +(Obj)

shìshì.

试试.

You try a bit.

 

kànkàn zhè běn shū.

看看这本书。

You take a look at this book.

 

We can also use another way to reduplicate verbs, that is,  to put 一 yī  in the structure.

Verb + 一yī + Verb 

Wǒ xiǎng gēn nǐ liáo yī liáo guānyú qù zhōngguó lǚyóu de jìhuà.

我想跟你聊一聊关于去中国旅游的计划。

I want to chat with you a bit about the plan to travel to China .

 

Nǐ kěyǐ wèn yī wèn lǎoshī wèishénme zhòngwén hěn nán xuéhǎo ma?

你可以问一问老师为什么中文很难学好吗?

Can you ask teacher why Chinese is difficult to learn well?
