Expressing "as Long as" With "只要……就"

只要...就 means “as long as…then…” In other words, whenever A happens, B results. Use this structure to express that “as long as”[something happens], “then”[something else will happen.] 只要A，就B = A is one way (possibly the easiest way )to make B happen. Without A, B may still happen.

只要+Condition，就 +Result
Zhǐyào nǐ yīzhí xué zhōngwén, nǐ de zhōngwén jiù huì tígāo. 只要你一直学中文，你的中文就会提高。 As long as you keep learning Chinese, your Chinese will be improved.
Zhǐyào tiānqì hǎo, wǒmen jiù qù páshān. 只要天气好，我们就去爬山。 As long as the weather is nice, we'll go hiking.
Nǐ zhīdào zěnme kěyǐ tígāo wǒ de zuò fàn shuǐpíng ma? 你知道怎么可以提高我的做饭水平吗？	Zhǐyào nǐ chángcháng zuò fàn, nǐ de zuò fàn shuǐpíng jiù huì yuè lái yuè gāo. 只要你常常做饭，你的做饭水平就会越来越高。 As long as you cook more often, your cooking skills will be getting better and better.
Māmā, wǒ kěyǐ hé péngyǒu yīqǐ wán diànnǎo ma? 妈妈，我可以和朋友一起玩电脑吗？	Zhǐyào nǐ bǎ zuòyè xiě wán, nǐ jiù kěyǐ wán. 只要你把作业写完，你就可以玩。 As long as you finish your homework, you can play.
Nǐ shénme shíhou kěyǐ gěiwǒ dǎ diànhuà？ 你什么时候可以给我打电话？	Wǒ zhǐyào dàojiā, jiù kěyǐ gěi nǐ dǎ diànhuà. 我只要到家，就可以给你打电话。 As soon as I get home, I will be able to call you.
Note：In the last example, 只要...就 also indicate “as soon as”.
