Expressing Various Aspects With "一方面"

When talking about various aspects of a situation, 一方面yīfāngmiàn⋯⋯， (另lìng)一方面yīfāngmiàn⋯⋯can be used in a way similar to how "on one hand..., on the other hand..." is used in English. 

1. 一方面 ⋯⋯ ， (另) 一 方面 (也/还) ⋯⋯

The two aspects in the sentence can both be similar in tone, You will often see the adverb 也 or 还 following 另一方面, which serves the purpose of emphasis.

Wǒ juédé nǐ bù yīng gāi cízhí, yī fāngmiàn nǐ xiànzài hé nǐ de tóngshì xiāngchǔ dé fēicháng hǎo, lìng yī fāngmiàn míngnián nǐ yěyǒu jīhuì shēng zhí. 我觉得你不应该辞职，一方面你现在和你的同事相处得非常好，另一方面明年你也有机会升职。 I think you shouldn’t quit your job. On the one hand you get along very well with your colleagues now, and on the other hand you have the opportunity to be promoted next year.

Duìbùqǐ, wǒ míngtiān bùnéng hé nǐ qù chūchāi. Yī fāngmiàn, wǒ míngtiān yào kāihuì,  lìng yī fāngmiàn wǒ zuìjìn juédé yǒuxiē bù shūfú. 对不起，我明天不能和你去出差。一方面，我明天要开会，另一方面我最近觉得有些不舒服。 I'm sorry, but I can't go on a business trip with you tomorrow. On the one hand, I have a meeting tomorrow, and on the other hand, I feel uncomfortable lately.

2. 一方面……，但是（另）一方面

This structure can also be in direct opposition to each other when we use it with 但是dànshì。

Tā yī fāngmiàn hěn gāoxìng, yīnwèi tā yào qù déguó gōngzuòle, dànshì lìng yī fāngmiàn yòu yǒuxiē dānxīn zài déguó de shēnghuó. 他一方面很高兴，因为他要去德国工作了，但是另一方面又有些担心在德国的生活。 On the one hand, he was happy that he was going to work in Germany, but on the other hand, he was a little worried about his life in Germany.

Wǒ de xīnqíng hěn fùzá, yī fāngmiàn zài zhège gōngsī gōngzuò, wǒ kěyǐ zhuàn dào hěnduō qián, dànshì lìng yī fāngmiàn, wǒ hěn bù xǐhuān gōngsī de gōngzuò huánjìng, yālì tài dàle. 我的心情很复杂，一方面在这个公司工作，我可以赚到很多钱，但是另一方面，我很不喜欢公司的工作环境，压力太大了。 My mood is very complicated now. On the one hand, I can make a lot of money working in this company, but on the other hand, I really don't like the working environment in this company, and I am so stressed.
