Expressing "all" With "所有"
You can use 所有suǒyǒu to say "all of" something. It's what you use to say phrases like "all the money in the world" or "all of my friends."
This pattern is used to refer to "all" of a noun, with the quantity of said noun usually being fairly large. You may notice that the 的de after 所有suǒyǒu is occasionally omitted.
所有 (+ 的) + Noun |
Wǒ hēle péngyǒu jiālǐ de suǒyǒu de píjiǔ. ——> I drank all the beer in my friend's house. |
Wǒ xǐhuān chī māmā zuò de suǒyǒu de cài. ——> I like to eat all the dishes my mother cooks. 我喜欢吃妈妈做的所有的菜。 |
When you make 所有suǒyǒu part of the subject, you're typically going to need 都dōu before the predicate. The predicate part of the pattern can be a verb or an adjective.
